Tanisha cantered around the wide indoor arena, warming up for her self-taught jumping lesson. Her arabian stallion, Quick Pace, snorted as he bobbed his small fine head up and down to the smooth rythym of his rocking horse gait. After a few more rounds of the ring, Tanisha steered Pace towards the warm-up jump. Ears pricked forward enthusiasticly, the stallion gathered himself, bunching his muscles together tightly before pushing himself off with his long back legs, propelling himsefl easily over the 4 foot vertical. Landing smoothly on the other side, the stallion gave a little buck of happiness. Frowning in concentration, Tanisha tapped the stallion behind her leg with enough force that the stallion regained his attention to the task at hand. After a few more jumps, she turned Pace towards the course she had laid out in the big arena earlier that morning. A few feet away from the four foot three oxer, Pace took off, leaping into the air with his front legs tucked tightly beneath his chest. Landing on the other side, Tanisha winced in frustration as she listened to the hollow sound of the jump pole thud to the ground. Pulling up her horse, Tanisha frowned.
Pace! I did not spend all of that money on you for that kind of effort! Now pick it up, I'm already considering another horse that my friend told me about from England.
She exclaimed, barely containing her frustration as she dismounted to replace the pole onto the standard's flat cup.

Walking by the English ridding ring Jace heard hoof beats, curious he stepped inside. Now English was not his normal style, needless to say he has ridden the discipline before, for his fathers clients horses. He walked to the edge of the ring and watched the girl make her way around. Not bad. he thought as he watched the horse sail over the vertical then give a buck. As she turned towards the course he assumed she had put out he continued to watch her. He studied the horse and rider and counted to himself already shaking his head a little when the girl went over the jump and knocked off a pole. Jace tilted his head as he heard her take out her frustration on the stallion, shaking his head he called out A horse is only as good as his rider. he said smiling at her. He knew he would probably be yelled at, but so what, that was him cocky and needless to say a bit crazy and stubborn. But Jace was what he was and what he was, was a cowboy…. And she would just have to deal with it.

Tanisha couldn't help but to hear the expected voice of a bystander as she hopped back on, putting it off to the back of her mind until she was safely back in the saddle. She should have been ashamed, but of course, who was he to think that he could just walk in and expect to get away with what he had just said to her? Turning Pace around quickly, she inspected the young man who had inturrupted her ride.
Pfft! Who are you to talk? I bet you're no where near as talented as me!
She said, tossing her long brown hair over the shoulder of her new black riding jacket, her face bunched up in a light smirk. Shortening her reins, she nudged the grey stallion gently, turning him back around to face away from the boy before adding to her point.
I expect more out of this thing, so if you don't like it, I suggest you get lost somewhere where the people actually appreciate you.
She kissed to Pace and asked him for an easy canter as they re-started the course. {lol, Tanisha's a brat... xP)

Jace kept his gaze on her as she spoke a slow grin spread on his face at her comment. Is that a challenge then miss? he asked ignoring her last comment . Without waiting for her to reply he took his cell out of his pocket and dialed a number. After a moment he spoke Yeah hey Eli, do you mind if I borrow Tiva?...No, its alright its just this girl thinks she more talented than me…. Yeah I know…hmm, that might not be a bad idea, though I don’t have a English saddle for him, and I don’t think yours will fit him….Okay since you’re on your way here would you mind bringing him with you, just put his bridle on him then … thanks I’ll see you in a few. with that he hung up and slipped the phone back into the pocket of the thick gray jacket he wore. Jace leaned on the fence as he watched her, a few moments later his phone vibrated and he looked at it, saying nothing he walked outside, spoke to some one for a few then as he came back he lead a beautiful black and white paint arab cross. He let himself into the ring and jumped on the stallions back, the horse had nothing on but his bridle and boots. Jace warmed him up walking, trotting and cantering him around before he and Lerato went for the first warm up jump. The stallion’s ears pricked forward in anticipation, one ear tilted back towards Jace. Jace felt the stallion’s muscles bunch as he popped over the jump landing easily on the other side. He then turned towards the girl, Going past her he coaxed Lerato into an easy canter, he timed the stallions stride as he headed for the jump she had knocked a pole over, Lerato’s ears pricked forward again as he gathered himself and sailed over the jump, hooves tucked neatly against his body until he reached the other side. Riding to the edge of the ring he turned to face her Still don’t think I’m as talented as you? he said smiling at her then leaned down and patted the paints neck good boy, Lerato. he murmured as he straightened himself again.

Tanisha was discusted, not at the fact that this western geek had just made it over the jump on that cow, but at the fact that he thought that she had said that she was more talented than him. He hadn't even used his own horse! Besides, if she had her own horse, she would be jumping five feet instead of four, this beast was just untallented.
Excuse me, but what do you think would happen if I was to get on that horse at this moment?
She snarled, turning Pace in towards the jump once again, pushing him into his smooth rolling canter. Shortening her reins, she looked ahead, leaning her weight forward as the stallion took off, this time clearing the top bars by several inches.
And anyway, he just needed to warm up.
She smirked as she changed her mind temporarily about her horse, patting him affectionately on his neck, loosening his reins.
How the hell did he even manage to stay on that thing? He had said that he had never really learned much english? Well maybe he had lied, since no real man could have done that without proper teaching. The so-called stallion had barely made it over, and she would have laughed if he had come off. It would have served him right afterall.

Jace watched her intently then tilted his head to the side when she asked what would happen if she were to get on his horse. Well, if you were to get on him now, he'd either buck you off or refuse to do what he was told. But of course you are more than welcome to try. he said smiling as he scooted back and patted the space he made infront of him. He then leaned back and rested his palms on Lerato's rump as he watched her go over the jump again this time clearing it by a few inches. Maybe he was, but that time you corrected your balance and timed the jump properly. he said then after a moment he added Since we are still talking, My name is Jace, this is my horse Lerato. he said nodding to her as he said his and his horse's name.

What did he think she was going to do? Get on his cow? Really, did he think that she was stupid enough to do that when she had already told him that it was her horse's fault that they hadn't made it over the jump the first time? Watching as he scooted back onto the horse's loins, she grimaced at the thought of having to ride on that thing.
That's quite alright, I'll pass.
She said coldly, sitting up straight in her expensive leather saddle as he spoke to her matter-of-factly once again, this time about her posture.
Who are you to talk, you western freak?
She shot back, keeping her cold eyes fixed to him from across the arena she squeazed Pace into keeping his steady rolling canter.
And why should I care what your name is, and your horse's either?
She added, irritated that the boy had not given up and left yet, knowing what he already did. Rocking back and fourth into his haunches, Pace snorted, tired of this boring routine. Flicking his ears as he tossed his head, the grey stallion threw himself forward, lowering his muzzle in between his legs as he launched a playful buck, snorting in enthusiasm before bucking again, this time a little more agressively. He was adding some spice to this lesson. Unnexpecting the bucks from the grey horse below her, Tanisha was thrown forward onto the pommel of her saddle before she leaned back again, trying to regain her balance. She was not going to let this stupid horse humiliate her now. But as Pace bucked again, she was launched from the saddle and tumbled neatly to the ground, rolling a few feet before jumping to her feet.
You stupid horse! Wait until I get you away from me and buy myself a new one, one that actually works!
She said, controlling her rage as she walked after the stallion, who had cantere a few feet away before coming to a stop, sniffing at one of the nearest jumps in curiosity.

Jace shrugged as he watched her start to canter around again. Suit yourself then, as for why I told you my name, I figured I'd be polite. He stated in his usual easy going tone completly unaffected by the coldness she was giving him, not that he really cared, little did she know that her hostility and brattyness intrigued him. He was thinking this when her horse began to buck. He watched as she lost her balance then regained it then lost it again and was thrown from the saddle, an anxious look crossed his face as he waited a moment to see if she was alright, when she got up and started to yell at her horse he fought to control himself from laughing. Are you alright? he called out across the arena his dark brown eyes gazing intently one her.

Trying not to notice the look on the boy's face, Tanisha strode over to her horse calmly as she could and picked up Pace's reins, which dragged dangerously on the sandy arena floor.
Yes, I'm fine.
She said, brushing off her clothes, before looking back over to Jace, who sta on his horse on the other side of the ring, looking a bit worried. Sighing, Tanisha decided that she wasn't about to lose this one anytime soon. Hopping back into the saddle, she circled Pace around and shortened her reins, squeazing him into a steady walk over to the other end of the ring.
I suppose your not as bad and under dressed as you are on the outside.
I guess I could have a little fun with this one, she thought, trotting around in a circle as she steered her gaze away from the annoying boy and his horse.

Jace continued to watch her as she got back on her horse and walked over to him. He smiled at her comment. Well thank you. By the way I still haven't caught you name.he said asking for her name one more time. He watched as she turned and walked away, curious he nudged Lerato to catch up with her.

Smirking unnoticably, Tanisha turned her head away and bryshed back a bit of her hair that had escaped her helmet.
If you must know, my name is Tanisha.
She said, pushing her horse one last time at the oxer. Making sure to release over the jump, Pace landed smoothly on the other side of the jump, his ears pricked now at the improved handling of his rider. Of course, he wasn't sure if it would last too long, since Tanisha usually wasn't like this. Patting her horse's neck, Tanisha cantered around the ring for a cool-down before pulling the stallion up to a walk and joined Jace on his horse.
Well, I think that I'm just about done here. Pace and I had been riding for quite some time before you arrived.
She said, grimacing slightly in rememberance of their first impressions of each other. Not that she cared, as that was how she wanted most people to remember her as; Rude, and better than them. Of course, when she couldn't prove to them that they were of lower qualibre than her, she simply joined sides with them. Jace, her first addition.

Jace watched as Tanisha push Pace over the troublesome oxer again and clear it. He kept his gaze on her as she came up next to him and his horse. Well if your done, then I don’t suppose you’d mind going for a ride with me would you? Or something else if you want. he said his tone betraying the fact that he fully expected her to deny his request, why wouldn’t she, not like he really knew her all that well anyway.

Tanisha paused, putting on a serious face as she pretended to think about the situation that Jace had asked her about. Loosening her reins, she raised one hand to her chind and touched it thoughtfully. After what must have seemed like ages to anyone but herself, Tanisha regained her grip on her reins and nudged Pace in the sides, urging him into a walk.
Well, of course I'll have to check if I'm avaliable... I'm a very busy person.
She said, looking down at her nails, brushing a few specks of invisible dirt from their purple surface.

Jace waited while she thought about his question, after what seemed like ages he wasn’t surprised to hear her answer. He shrugged as he nudged Lerato into a walk I’m sure you are. he said grinning a little at her. But I think you can find some time to fit me into your busy schedule. he said as he glanced at her for a moment before continuing to watch where her was going.

Tanisha's expression showed no emotion as she listened to Jace's reply, her posture relaxed and at ease as Pace walked calmly as she nudged him in the direction of the doors that led out of the arena. Remarking his grin, Tanisha chuckled a little, slyly, yet her voice did not betray the feelings behind the laugh.
But I think you can find some time to fit me into your busy schedule.
Perfect, she thought to herself. It's almost as if he's setting himself up for me! Catching up to him and Lerato, Tanisha glanced over at him, not saying anything for a few moments, extending her thoughts for a while.
Well, come to think of it, I'm not busy tommorrow after noon.
She said at last, after she had decided that she had made him wait long enough for an answer. Taking her feet out of her stirrup irons, Tanisha halted Pace by the door and sprung out of the saddle, landing lightly on her two feet. Running up her stirrups, she took the reins from over her horse's head and led him towards the latch.
How about you meet me at the entrance of the trails tommorrow at one. I'll be there.
She said as she opened the doors, the bright light outside reflecting off of the snow as she led her stallion out of the warm arena. Looking back at Jace, she nodded before returning her gaze outside, her mouth curving upwards in a smirk as she dissmissed herself from the riding ring.
